I’m currently studying and applying the principles of persuasion* to how I do my marketing. At the end of the day, marketing is all about psychology.

Here’s a really cool presentation of Chris Sykes, CEO of Volume Group, regarding the importance of optimizing your social media real estate. And his definition of “real estate” is even broader than what you think it is (which I bet is still anchored on the 90s meaning of internet real estate).

But yes, the author has a point: if you are personifying a brand, the brand should talk like real person.
